Overview

An industrial arm, built to be posable

An articulated arm on a wheeled base. The interesting constraint is that every joint has to be a real pivot rather than a fused seam, so the parts have to be modeled as separate pieces that meet convincingly at each rotation point instead of one continuous mesh.
The two renders below are the same model under different treatments: a lit gray pass and a flat single-material pass.
Lit render — the joints, hydraulic run and gripper.

Single-material pass on black, which is the clearest read of the silhouette.

Outcome

Where it is now

The model is below, live rather than rendered. The joints stayed separate pieces the whole way through, which is what lets it read as posable when you orbit it instead of one welded lump.
